Dr. Rief Volunteers at Mission Of Mercy

Last November my husband and I had the privilege of participating in our first MOM program. MOM stands for mission of mercy. This particular program took place for two days in Cumberland, Maryland. The fairgrounds in Cumberland were transformed into a gigantic dental clinic to perform free dentistry for anyone who wanted to wait in line. There were general dentists, oral surgeons, root canal doctors, hygienists, pharmacists and dental lab technicians present. I treated many patients who needed restorative and cosmetic dental procedures. College students and dental students were present to help assist wherever needed. I was able to treat a lot of patients in dire need of dental services. Giving back to the community is such an important part of what we do as dentists. I enjoyed the experience tremendously and look forward to the next MOM this summer in Laurel, Maryland.
